  • Talk Therapy

“But I don’t want to go among mad people,”

    “Oh, you ca’n’t help that . . . we’re all mad here. I’m mad. You’re mad.”

Therapy does not have to be scary or embarrassing. It can actually be something that is really fun and exciting when you find the right person to do it with. The right person is someone who you can talk to without feeling judged; someone who does not leave you feeling worse after the conversation is over. Therapy can be a really great tool for reducing stress, learning how to cope with whatever life throws at you and figuring out who you are and how you fit into the world. Not only will you receive understanding, but you will also get the validation, support and relief you need to work out the solutions to your problems.

  • EMDR

“Because I am not myself, you see”

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence based approach that is designed to alleviate the distress associated with traumatic memories. In other words, it helps people heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are a result of disturbing life experiences. EMDR shows that the mind can heal from psychological trauma as the body recovers from physical trauma. It has been shown to be effective with common presentations including: complex trauma and dissociation, anxiety, depression, addiction, panic, grief and phobias.

During an EMDR session, the therapist works with a client utilizing bilateral stimulation (eye movements, tapping or alternating sounds) to process the memory and disturbing feelings. The goal is for clients to have their distress level relieved, their negative beliefs reformulated and their physical symptoms reduced. Most leave EMDR feeling empowered and in control for the first time in their lives!

  • Acudetox

“It would be nice if something made sense for a change”

The NADA protocol, also known as "five point ear acupuncture," is a treatment that involves the insertion of fine, stainless steel needles into five acupuncture points in the ear.

    1) Sympathetic: calms the nervous system and helps with overall relaxation

    2) Shen Men / “Spirit Gate”: reduces anxiety

    3) Kidney Point: for calming fears and healing internal organs

    4) Liver Point: for detoxification, blood purification, and for aggression

    5) Lung Point: promotes aeration and helps clients let go of grief

Typical sessions are about 1 hour. After needles are placed, clients relax to meditation music for the remainder of the session.
